Orlando, Florida

First use of a haunched, horizontally curved, precast concrete u-beam

BASE Consultants, Inc. was a subconsultant to Atkins for construction administration of Ramp K, reviewing shop drawings, responding to request for information, and providing the as-built load rating.

Ken Zagers was the Engineer of Record for Ramp K (an Atkins project), a third level horizontally curved, post-tensioned, U-beam bridge, 2,550 foot long with 150-foot spans. Design included haunched girder shape; hammerhead piers and an integral pier design. The two-girder system supports a 10-inch slab for two lanes of ramp traffic. The bridge was analyzed using LARSA 4D.
