Wizarding World of Harry Potter – The Village of Hogsmeade

BASE Consultants was the Structural Engineer of Record for the Village of Hogsmeade, which includes destinations from the beloved series such as Ollivanders, Zonko’s, The Three Broomsticks, and the Owl Posts. The project consisted of multiple new structures, partial and complete demolition of existing structures and modification to existing structures within the project area. The buildings involve extremely complex geometry and steel framing. Coordination with various trades including MEP and themeing were crucial due to the exposed structural nature of the buildings. BASE developed 3-D analysis/design models of geometrically challenging structures based on pictures, scaled models and conceptual movie set drawings. BASE closely worked with the site conditions of an active theme park for site adaptation and modification of existing structures. BASE also collaborated directly with the contractor and the steel erectors during the construction phase providing connection design for the contractor based on as built conditions.
